The idea behind Irish Ancestral Holidays stems from a conversation that took place one summer’s afternoon a number of years ago at Kilpatrick House (the Kingston family 4-Star Country House), Co Wicklow, Ireland.
Howard, the third generation of Kingston to run the family Country House, was enjoying a cup of tea with the McGinty family who were over on vacation from Boston. After a detailed discussion regarding the weather (we like to do that here in Ireland), they began chatting about why the McGinty family had chosen to come to Ireland.
‘My Great Grandfather came from somewhere in Kerry’ Mr McGinty proudly said. ‘But heck, we just couldn’t find any more information about him than that’.
Having a strong interest in family history, Howard thought he’d help the McGinty’s in their search; so many hours (and many cups of tea) later, the McGinty’s found what they had been looking for; a link to their family’s past.
